Lacey Upton Promoted to Partner at The Philanthropic Initiative

The Philanthropic Initiative today announced the recent promotion of Lacey Upton from Senior Philanthropic Advisor to Partner in the philanthropic advisory firm. Upton joined the organization in January 2022.

Upton works with independent and family foundations as well as companies to strengthen their philanthropy through strategic planning, social issues research, design, and implementation of giving programs, governance and succession planning, scholarship and college success programs, and more. A strong facilitator experienced in working with youth and adults, she has led foundation retreats as well as learning and planning processes to support impactful and strategic giving. Upton brings expertise in youth development, education, and the arts, and has worked alongside donors on a wide array of issues areas, including behavioral health, literacy, criminal justice, and the environment.

Before joining TPI, Upton managed programs and community engagement initiatives for several Boston- and New York-based nonprofits, including Project 351, the Boston Lyric Opera, the Metropolitan Opera Guild in New York City, and Teen Ink Magazine. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and English from Boston College, and a Master of Education from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
