As part of a larger project to inform the work of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving (HFPG), The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI) conducted a study to learn how other community foundations are examining use of ARPA funds coming to their regions, how they are responding, and how they might adjust grantmaking and related strategies over the next few years to leverage the positive impact of ARPA funding within their regions.
In the fall of 2021, TPI conducted virtual interviews with leaders from eight peer community foundations. In these interviews, TPI explored each foundation’s approach to understanding ARPA funds coming to their region and how these foundations are responding to ARPA, including the anticipated impact of ARPA funds on grantmaking strategies and other activities. Key findings are summarized in this report.
