The Lawrence Family Scholarship supports graduates of Union City High School in Union City, Indiana, who are planning to or already attend a trade or technical school.  

The Lawrence Family Scholarship aims to make college affordable for students who have the desire and aptitude to attend a trade or technical school. The scholarship aims to support students to earn an advanced certificate or degree so they can be prepared for additional professional opportunities.  

The scholarship is administered by The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI). 

The Award: 

  • Annual scholarship to cover tuition, fees and qualified educational expenses at a trade or technical school in the U.S., provided requirements are met. 
  • Scholarship amounts will be determined based on the other support the student receives at the trade or technical school they choose to attend. Scholarships will range from $2,000 to $10,000 per year. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Student Graduates (classes of 2024, 2025, or 2026) from Union City Junior Senior High School in Union City, Indiana.  
  • US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or unexpired Employment Authorization Document (EAD—Form I-766). 
  • Adjusted Gross Family Income (AGI) of $100k or less 
  • Unmet financial need at the school the student plans to attend 
  • Enrolling or already enrolled at a US accredited, not-for-profit (strongly preferred) or for-profit, private or public trade or technical school in 2026-27. 
  • Senior or recent high school graduate who is interested in attending a trade or technical school.  Only 2024, 2025 and 2026 Union City High School graduates are eligible to apply.  
  • Hybrid school settings are allowed, but students must plan to take majority of classes in person. 
  • Involved in a balance of community, school, and work activities. 
  • Strong desire to further education and open up professional opportunities.
