On Wednesday, March 13, TPI lost a beloved member of our team, Lisa Payne Simon, who passed away after a long illness. Those who had the opportunity to work with Lisa know that she was an absolute treasure – that rare colleague who brought an unwavering positivity and optimism to everything she touched.

Lisa joined TPI as a Partner in January 2019 with a background in health policy and philanthropy, after more than two decades as a philanthropic consultant and senior leader at a variety of foundations from coast to coast. She believed deeply in the power of high-impact philanthropic programs to improve the lives and outcomes of the people they serve.

Lisa was a quiet force, driven by an unparalleled dedication to and passion for her work, clients, colleagues, and partners, and for the projects she led with vigor. One of her greatest achievements during her time at TPI was designing and managing Exhale – The Family Caregiver Initiative. This initiative, which continues to grow and expand, is addressing one of the most significant challenges facing families in the United States – the need to reimagine and strengthen respite opportunities for family caregivers of older adults.

In the words of one team member, “Lisa was such a precious human being and superlative colleague.” Another described her as “a caring, humble, and patient partner to everyone she worked with.” Lisa always found the best in everyone around her, and was a gentle coach, mentor, thought partner, and role model.

Along with her beloved husband Dana and their two children, Jack and Julia, Lisa was adored and cherished by all of us at TPI, by her clients, and by so many others. We mourn her loss more than we can say, and we will do all we can to ensure that her work and her legacy live on.
