Cynthia Gibson Joins TPI as Senior Vice President
TPI has named Cynthia Gibson, Ph.D., as senior vice president. Gibson joins TPI after a twenty-six year career in the nonprofit sector where she held leadership roles for several national foundations and nonprofits and has become a highly regarded strategist, thought leader, writer, and practitioner on issues ranging from civic engagement and nonprofit management to health care and education.

Remmer to moderate at COF on Community Foundation Global Giving
TPI President Ellen Remmer will moderate Tuesday, September 14th at the COF Fall Conference for Community Foundations. The session will focus on preliminary findings from the Community Foundation Global Giving Initiative, a consortium of community foundations exploring the potential benefits of a central resource to assist community foundations with giving to non-U.S. NGOs and with international grantmaking.

Steve Johnson to present at CAF Symposium in Singapore
TPI Senior Fellow, Stephen Johnson will present on September 17th in Singapore at the Charities Aid Foundation’s Philanthropy Symposium 2010: The Power of Doing Good Well. The two-day symposium will consist of about 50 wealth managers and advisors from across Asia who wish to learn more about connecting their work with high net worth clients to philanthropic planning.

Two New Senior Fellows at TPI

Remmer quoted in Chronicle on Gates/Buffett Giving Pledge
TPI President and CEO, Ellen Remmer, was quoted in an article in The Chronicle of Philanthropy yesterday entitled, "Wealthy Americans Urged to Give Billions to Charitable Causes." The article provides details on the Giving Pledge, a recent call to action from Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates to the wealthiest individuals and families thorughout the country. The pledge encourages the richest Americans to give half of their earnings to charity.
